The purpose of this Tip Video is to demonstrate how to create animated paths using Houdini’s procedural nodes and combine it with some manual keyframes to add some personal artistic look to it. A procedural destruction path is defined by a curve that runs through the city.

Procedural City HDA v4 Asset

The city and buildings geometry is generated by the Procedural City HDA v4 Asset that I’ve released to Members-Only, but in this HIP file, I’ve also included the cache file for the generated city geometry so this example scene will still work without the need for installing the Procedural City HDA. It’s still recommended that you install the HDA and create and customize your own city.

Live Stream

I’m hoping to take this scene further in the upcoming Live Stream and do my usual enhancements to the scene to push it further. I would like to create more variety sized fractured pieces from the buildings and add some pyro smoke for dust. This would also be a great opportunity to revisit the previous RBD Tornado scene and add a similar pyro dust simulation setup to both scenes.
