Live Stream Description
I demonstrate how to export a Houdini made Heightfield Terrain and prep it for Substance Painter. Then I show you how to use mask images generated in Houdini with Painter’s Masking layers to setup material and shade the terrain.
Spontaneous Live Stream
This was a Live Stream that wasn’t really planned that much. I had been meaning to do a Houdini to Substance Painter tutorial that was specifically for Heightfield Terrains. I had all these tiny bits of tips that were mentioned here and there in random past live streams and I was planning on putting all that knowledge together for something more methodical to watch. A member initiated a question regarding about this workflow and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to do a quick Live Stream on this topic. The Live Stream was originally scheduled to be hosted in the morning but Youtube kept giving me this, “Live Chat is unavailable, please edit and try again” message. This was very frustrating, because I never had this issue before and no clue as to what was causing it. I tried lowering the resolution of the stream, increasing the delay, and set the stream to Low Lagtency, but nothing worked. After much futile effort, I retried my luck during the evening (EST timezone) and it just worked. So that’s when I spontaneously thought of doing an unannounced and unplanned Live Stream.
