Game Jam! TOJam 2025

It’s the time of the year again! TOJam 2025 is on its way, May 6th is the last day to register for TOJam 2025 for virtual participants. Unfortunately the in-person seats registration window closed off on April 22, so only virtual seats remain open for registration.

I haven’t participated in a jamming session in years, and it feels like it’s been forever! I feel like it’s time and I also wanted something to challenge and push my skills. What better way to do that than a Game Jam? The pressure usually puts me through hell, but if you survive and come out on the other side, you end up with a whole new set of skills developed during the short time during the Game Jam.

I couldn’t find the old game I made back when I first participated in TOJam all those years back, but I DID FOUND my old UE game that I made back when Epic Games had those MegaJam events throughout the year! This was the first anything I made in Unreal Engine!

TOJam is a little different from other Game Jam’s and there’s no prize which removes the pressure, and brings back the joy in just pure game development. The last time I participated in TOJam was almost a decade ago and it was in person, which seems like a lifetime ago. TOJam has changed a lot over the years and they now have seats that are allow remote participation! These virtual game jams are the best for my schedule! It means I can participate with all my energy without completely destroying my whole lifestyle and since there’s no competition, the only pressure comes from the objective of finishing the game.

TOJam Mascot

A “goat-on-a-pole” has been TOJam’s logo since 2006, which is when the very first TOJam started!

On the right, in the middle is the official logo for TOJam and as stated on their site, anyone may alter the image in any way you want, but it’s recommended that you include the logo in your game to help spread the love for TOJam!

On the far right is the same goat, I just asked AI to generate a realistic version for me. At first I wanted to generate a toony version, but the AI had a lot of trouble understanding, so I just gave up and went for a realistic version!
